I don't watch much TV but I just watched 1st season of ABC's "My Diet is Better Than Yours" and here are some of my observations.

For me, diet is what you eat and not how much you work out. Exercise is not diet. If you make somebody who doesn't move much exercise, they will lose weight as long as you also somehow control how much they eat. I've done this myself many times before I started eating high fat low carb. I would start exercising to lose weight and I lost weight if I stayed with exercising for 1 - 2 months. What happened when I stopped exercising though? My weight started coming back.

There was only one diet on that show that I believe is sustainable for the long run and it's "The Wild Diet" by Abel James, aka Low Carb High Fat diet, High Fat Low Carb diet, LCHF, HFLC or whatever else you want to call it. It's getting most of the calories from healthy fats and avoiding carbs, especially sugar and starches. I might be biased because LCHF worked very well for me so I've been eating high fat low carb for over 2 years. It allowed me to effortlessly control my weight WITHOUT being hungry or exercising.

I also think that if Kurt stays on the wild diet, he'll lose more weight over the next few years. As for the other contestants, I think it will be hard for them to keep off the weight they lost once they go back to their everyday life because big part of their weight loss was due to exercise or limiting what/how much they eat which is a hard fight to win in the long run when eating a lot of carbohydrates.

What are your thoughts about that show?
