I've watched an interesting presentation today by Dr. Michael Eades titled "Paleopathology and the Origins of Low Carb": http://www.dietdoctor.co...-the-origins-of-low-carbTowards the end of the presentation, Dr. Eades talks about obesity in ancient Egypt. He says that their diet was nirvana for so called nutritional experts of today who recommend eating whole grains, fruit, vegetables and limited meat and yet Egyptians suffered from bad health. From studying of mummies it was determined that many had heart diseases, obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure. They supposedly didn't eat much meat as large animals were used as "beasts of burden" and valued more for the work they did than food they would provide. I found this very interesting and it makes sense to me now that I've been eating high fat low carb for over 2 years. I've seen my own body's ability to control weight and keep me healthy improve over those 2 years vs. before when I was eating standard western diet. Here is a link to Dr. Eades' blog post about this: https://proteinpower.com...besity-in-ancient-egypt/ |
