I've always enjoyed working out and until I started eating HFLC, I used exercise to control my weight. I would start gaining weight and decide that I'm getting too fat so I would start working out. Most of the time, it was some kind of cardio workout routine and for the first week or so, my muscles would be killing me. Even things like walking would cause muscle pain. This happened every time I would start working out after a few months without exercising and I used to do that a few times a year.

For the first 2 years of my high fat low carb journey, I haven't done much exercising. I didn't have the time and the food that I ate easily controlled my weight so I wasn't getting fat. Two of my failed attempts at starting to work out were in the middle of September 2015 and at the beginning of December 2015. In September, I managed to work out 3 times within one week and in December I managed to do 5 elliptical sessions. Each time when I started, the workouts were easier to complete and it was a lot easier during the next few days. My body wasn't that tired and my muscles weren't in pain.

I started to exercise more regularly in 2016 and again, it was a lot easier during the first week compared to before HFLC. I've posted some pictures in my success story from before high fat low carb and afterwards. I want to add one more picture in there. Eating exactly what I'm eating now but after 1 or 2 months of regular exercise.

Hopefully posting it on a forum will keep me motivated and accountable to actually find the time and exercise.

I spoke a little too early about how easy starting to exercise was. Up to this point, I've been doing 30 minutes of elliptical cardio or strength training such as push-ups, sit-ups and resistance bands. I've been doing that for a few weeks and indeed, it was easier after workouts.

I was getting a little bored of that so 3 days ago, I stared doing Shaun T's Insanity workout (which I used to do in the past to control my weight). After 2 workouts, my upper body is doing fine but my legs are very sore especially the calves which are killing me. They're so soar that it's hard to get up from the chair. Today, I'm taking a day off to recover but I'll be continuing Insanity starting tomorrow.

I ended up doing 5 sessions of Insanity and after 4th one, my body has adapted and I was easily able to follow most exercises. Unfortunately during my 5th session, I started feeling pain in my left knee. Insanity is not easy on the knees and I've injured my left knee many years ago by trying to push through the pain while running. Ever since that time, whenever I start exercising hard for a while, the knee pain comes back.

That's a bummer as I wanted to do about 1 month of Insanity and compare the results to before I started eating high fat low carb but because of this knee pain, I switched to low impact exercises. I found a decent workout on YouTube that's easy on the knees and still does good job providing all body workout so I've been doing that along with elliptical machine. I started doing kind of sprints on my elliptical, which means that after warm-up, I'm doing 2 minutes of pushing myself really hard and 1 minute of going slow to recover.
