I've been eating high fat low carb for a little over 2 years now. Right now, it's fairly easy for me to avoid carbohydrates (especially sugar) but it hasn't always been like that. When I first started, I had sugar cravings and often I would give in and eat chocolates or ice cream. I even went as far as explaining to myself that since certain ice cream (Haagen-Dazs vanilla chocolate peanut butter) had almost as much fat as carbs, it was fine to eat. Sometimes, I would eat those pretty much every day for a week or two.

Chocolates were also my weak spot. Once I gave in, I could eat a bag that was several servings at one time and do the same thing the next day.

Eating chocolates or ice cream caused me to be hungrier and to crave more sugar. Sometimes, I could go on for months without sugar and one day decide to eat ice cream and sugar cravings would return.

As months went by though, it became easier to avoid sugar and when I did eat something sweet, I wasn't enjoying those things as much. They just didn't taste that good. Last time I've had a lot of sugar was about 2 weeks ago during a party we went to and recovering after that has been pretty easy compared to when I started my high fat low carbohydrate journey.

What has been the hardest for you to avoid while eating HFLC?
